Sunday 6th Dec was the Galloway Hills Rally, based out of Castle Douglas. Another great day – the rain stayed off at least! Lots of action, and some familiar faces…
The IRC Rally Scotland had Kris Meeke soundly stamped all over it, but was later excluded from the event for running with an underweight subframe. A very credible 4th place overall then for Jock Armstrong & Kirsty Riddick. Bad luck for David Bogie though – running in 5th place OA, ahead of Jock & Kirsty going into the final stage, SS13 Loch Ad 2 was to prove his downfall. Bit of a shame that more of the works teams didn’t make the trip, but a very enjoyable rally nonetheless.
I caught up with the RAC Rally on Sunday, in the Forest of Ae for SS16 & SS19 – and it rained on and off the whole day! Spectacular action, from I-don’t-know-how-many-hundreds-of-thousands-of-pounds-worth of classic rally machinery hurtling through a greasy forest at breakneck speed… I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves!
A sunny 7th November saw the Rintouls win at Crail, narrowly edging out Morris/Harkness in the Metro 6R4, and Grant/Carstairs in the Impreza. Full results available over on the Glenrothes Motorsport Club website. It was a long day – ended up with nearly 5000 images, of which a mere 200 are up in the gallery (click the pic!) – if you would like further proofs, and I have plenty of photos of everyone – please use the “Contact Me” form, and drop me a line…
Hot off the press – photographs from the 40th Anniversary running of the Tour of Mull. A magnificent win for Calum Duffy this year – Top 3 cars were Mk2 Escort, Mk2 Escort, BMW Mini! Not a 4WD or a turbo in sight! (well, there was one in 4th!)
40TH ANNIVERSARY OFFER – Buy a framed 12″x8″ print from this years Tour of Mull – it’s cheaper than you think – and get a free 12″x8″ (unframed) print of your choice from ANY of our galleries. I’m writing this at 2AM on Saturday morning – today sees me with an emergency dental appointment at 10AM – meaning I will be unable to make Perthshire in time to catch any of the Rally.
HOWEVER, all is not lost – if you’re looking for photos from the rally (give him a day or two to get them up though!!), I can highly recommend Dan Forsyth as the chap to go visit. His website is at http://www.drfrallyphotos.co.nr/
I will get to Perthshire again this year though – the IRC Rally Scotland is in November!
After s slight hiccup, photos are now up! 5th September saw the penultimate round of the SRC, the Merrick. A very soggy morning was followed, as usual, by a dry, and even sunny afternoon! Jock Armstrong & Kirsty Riddick took the honours, with Greer/Crawford 40 seconds behind, and Bogie/Rae another 24 seconds adrift. Click the pic to go through to the gallery!
The Speyside Stages hosted round 6 of the Scottish Rally Championship, and with the overall title still wide open, it proved to be a hard-fought rally. Photographs from SS1 & SS2 Coopers Park, and SS6 Gartly Moor are now up in the gallery – 2 images of each car (well, 3 of Steve Bannister just because he thrashed everyone else round Cooper Park, twice!) from a pool of over 2800…
